The Final round of the National Competition on international arbitration, which was held under the auspices of the European Arbitration Chamber, took place on 27th March 2012.
Three Ukrainian universities were represented on the last round of competition:
- Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
- Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University
- National University of "Odessa Law Academy"
In the Final the teams gave the jury their presentation of arguments for decisions in specific cases.
The team of the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University won the award for the 1st place.
The 2nd place was awarded to the team of National University of "Odessa Law Academy".
The 3rd place was awarded to the team of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
The finalists got the opportunity of having their internship in international law companies, among them are "Arzinger", "Cai&Lenard", "Avellum Partners", etc.
The main goal of this contest was raising of awareness, developing of the practical skills of students in the field of international commercial law, as well as in international commercial arbitration.
Judging of the contest was conducted by arbitrators, among them were the professors of law faculties of universities, arbitrators, lawyers from well-known international law companies. Among the members of the jury were - Gennady Pampucka (President EACh), Konstantin Pilkov (managing partner of law company Cai & Lenard), Nikita Nota (lawyer in law company "Avellum Partners"), Tatyana Slipachuk (partner of law firm Sayenko Kharenko), Tatiana Traino (the Arbiter of the ICAC), Irina Kalinska (partner of "Iryna Kalinska' Buraeu of Reconceliation"), Sergei Koziakov (managing partner of law firm "Sergei Koziakov and Partners"), Yaroslav Petrov (Lawyer Law Firm "Asters") and Natalia Ivanitska (Senior Associate of law company Arzinger).
The competition was held in Ukraine for the first time. It was organized as model of the proceedings in international arbitration and was conducted in English.
The contest combines the best experience of well-known The Willem C. Vis Moot, The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot and helps students to apply their knowledge in practice as it simulates the case in international arbitration court.
