Meeting of members of the European Arbitration Chamber took place in Kyiv on 31st of July, 2012. A lot of topical questions, aimed on the improving of efficiency of EACh, were discussed.
The participants of the event unanimously approved the opening of new representative offices of the EACh in Uzbekistan, Poland, Czech Republic. EACh’s members also discussed competition for international arbitration among students of law faculties. Experience shows that this competition is very popular among students of law faculties, as it contributes not only to develop their interest in their future profession, but they receive an opportunity to use their knowledge in practice. It was decided to expand the scope of the future of competition: in addition to Ukraine, the competition will be held alternately in such countries as Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Poland. Participation in the contest is free.
The participants discussed such urgent problem as statistics of arbitration clauses in contracts. They also paid attention to further strengthening the position of the International Commercial Arbitration Court under EACh, in particular, a new direction in its activity was defined - namely, the settlement of disputes in construction and building industry.
The meeting also approved the schedule of meetings and activities of the European Arbitration Chamber for the near future.
The next meeting of the members of the EACh will be held on 28th of August, 2012 in Kiev.
International scientific-practical conference "Legal issues in the field of arbitration and mediation, international practice" will take place in Tashkent in October. It will be attended by the delegation of the European Arbitration Chamber. The general meeting of members of the EACh, devoted to the opening of EACh’s representative office in Uzbekistan.
The participants of the meeting deemed it advisable to hold, an international scientific-practical conference on topical issues of judicial review and arbitration in the construction industry. It will be held in December 2012 in Lviv.
Accreditation of the arbitrators, the acceptance of new members to EACh, membership fees - these issues were also on the agenda of the meeting.
The participants of the meeting also discussed such issue as the amount of annual membership fee for full and associate members of the EACh. There were suggestions to reduce the size of the fee to 50 euros, but the agreement on this issue has not been reached, so it will be included in the agenda of the next meeting of members of the EACh.
The meeting also confirmed acceptance of new members to the EACh and their accreditation as the arbitrators of the International Commercial Arbitration Court under the EACh, among them are:

Deputy Chairman of the Association of the arbitration courts in Uzbekistan.
The participants of EACh’s meeting approved the schedule of events, which it will hold or take part in the near future.
