The presentation and drawing of teams of II National Competition on International Arbitration (Moot Court), which is held under the auspices of the European Arbitration Chamber, will take place on December 11th, 2012 in Kyiv.
The event will be attended by the President and Members of the European Arbitration Chamber, representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, lecturers of leading Ukrainian universities, representatives of the largest of law firms, banks and insurance companies, practicing lawyers, judges, arbitrators, mediators.
The main purpose of the competition is to raise awareness and promote the development of practical skills among students, who study of international commercial law and arbitration.
The Moot Court is held by the European Arbitration Chamber for a second time.
It is based on the model of international arbitration proceedings (under the rules of the International Commercial Arbitration Court under the European Arbitration Chamber, Brussels, Belgium) and is run English.
The organizers of the contest have prepared the task for participants — it is a dispute between the parties on the contract of sale, which is the subject to international arbitration. The teams have to represent the interests of each party of the dispute by two memoranda (written details of the legal positions of both parties), as well as in oral discussion with the opposing team.
The competition will run for four months — from December 2012 to March 2013.
Judging of the competition will perform arbitrators, who are professor of law faculties of universities, acting arbitrators of the leading arbitration institutions, lawyers from well-known international law firms.
This competition brings together the best practices of known competition such as the V. Vis Moot Court, Tedlers Moot Court) and helps students to use their knowledge to a particular problem, as it fully simulates the proceedings in international commercial arbitration.
The winners will get the opportunity of having an internship in the leading European law firms, enabling them to deepen their knowledge and enhance their legal qualifications.
