The presentation of the IV International Competition on Commercial Arbitration took place in Kyiv (Ukraine) on December 15^th 2016. This year the competition has expanded geography and covers not only Ukraine but also the United States! The applications for participation in the contest were submitted not only by the universities of Kyivv, Uzhgorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Ostrog, but also Washington (D.C.).

The contest includes several stages – preparation of written memorials and oral debates. The participants got acquainted with the task and will have to prepare a statement of claim and send it to the Organizing Committee. Then they will receive statement of claim from team-opponent and prepare its statement of defense. After preparation of memorials the oral debates will take place.

Participation in the competition will give students an excellent opportunity to try on the role of not only the legal counselors of companies, but also the role of arbitrators. Indeed, in the framework of the competitions teams will participate in all stages of arbitration process: preparation of the memorandums, arbitration hearings, drawing of final award and its enforcement.

According to the results of draw procedure, which was held on December 15^th 2016, such groups of teams were determined:

2. Uzhgorod National University Vs. Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics
3. National University "Ostroh Academy” Vs. The National Academy of Internal Affairs
4. The Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko Vs. Carpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanik
5. Kyiv University of Law NAS of Ukraine Vs. American University Washington College of Law

After receiving instructions, recommendations, the team went home to study the task, examine international conventions, the Rules of the ICAC, doctrines and prepare statements of claim.
